Fennel Nutrition & Health
Color: Green

Andy Boy Fennel. A healthful food, any way you slice it. Every bulb of Andy Boy Fennel is packed with essential nutrients. It is an excellent source of vitamin C, potassium and dietary fiber. The Vitamin C in fennel is directly antimicrobial and assists in the proper function of the immune system. But that’s not the whole story. Andy Boy fennel contains its own unique combination of phytonutrients, including flavanoids which give it strong anti-oxidant properties. Most interesting, however is anethole, a compound that has shown in animal studies to reduce inflammation and to help prevent the recurrence of cancer. A biological system that shuts down an intercellular signalling system. By doing this the anethone in Andy Boy fennel prevents activation of a potentially strong, gene-altering and inflammation-triggering molecule called NF-kappab. Further research will document and confirm these findings.

Total Knock Down of Free Radicals

As a Vitamin C superstar, Andy Boy fennel contains plentiful anti-oxidants that are capable of neutralizing free radicals in all aqueous environments of the body. Without the benefit of anti-oxidants in your diet, those harmful free radicals can cause cellular damage, resulting in the pain and joint deterioration characteristic of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

What is a Phytochemical?

These are natural compounds in plants that may provide a variety of health benefits. Many of the bright colors in fruits and vegetables come from phytochemicals.
