THE JOB:  Are you interested in working on cutting-edge agricultural equipment?  Do you like to build?  Do you like to learn something new every day?  Does working with a fast-paced team sound fun?  Do you want to help feed the world?  Come work with the Mechanized Equipment Development Team at D’Arrigo Brothers of California to create automated machinery for the harvest of fresh vegetables!  This position will require working in the field and in the shop preparing, trouble shooting, repairing, assisting in the prototyping and modifying of experimental equipment.  This job will find a person brainstorming with our team in the office, fabricating prototypes in the shop, then going on to test a new idea in the field.  Definite room for growth and developing new skills.  Beware!   • Minimum 3 years of experience with building, repairing or modifying mobile ag or processing equipment
  • Valid driver’s license and clean record
  • Must have own mechanic tools
  • Good communication skills
  • Team player who works well with a variety of people
  • Welding and fabrication skills used in manufacturing or equipment repair
  • Ability to read drawings, and schematics
  • Ability to learn new systems then train others in their use, function or service
  • Willingness to support field projects in Yuma, AZ and Brawley, CA between November and March
  • Good observation skills with an attention to quality and detail in work
  • Regular and consistent attendance is mandatory
  • Work schedule will include occasional long hours including weekends and some holidays
  • Operation of standard office equipment, including personal computers, appropriate software such as Windows, Microsoft Office applications, as well as mobile device applications
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, between the office, the shop and the field
  • Creativity and aptitude for identifying problems and finding alternative solutions
  • Able to handle multiple tasks, and willing to finish without continuous supervision
  • Willingness to learn new skills, use new tools, and adapt to the product development process.


  • Spanish speaking
  • Prior experience of 12VDC electro-hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Field experience with AC power systems, contactors, motors, variable frequency drives, etc.
  • AS degree in relevant technology (Welding, Agriculture and Industrial Technology, or Industrial Mechanics)
  • Field experience with J1939 CAN bus diagnostics as-found on mobile equipment, engines, and hydraulics
  • Experience with PLC’s, Micro Controllers and laptop based diagnostics & software updates
