DUTIES – Responsible for total maintenance of the Salinas facilities, including several types of produce coolers and a large cold box, while taking direction from the Facilities Director.  Need strong math, comprehension, analytical, organizational and decision making skills.  Bilingual, English/Spanish is a plus, but not mandatory.

RESPONSIBILITIES – GOALS

  • Report issues with electrical, air conditioning, plumbing and other essential facilities and equipment to the Facility Director.
  • Maintain the efficiency and good working conditions of the facilities
  • Notify the Facility Director of issues with the safety of the buildings from fire, flood and other hazards.
  • Suggest modifications to work schedules and assignment of duties to maintain adequate staff for effective performance of activities and response to fluctuating workloads.
  • Coordinate with other departments for things that are not within the scope of the facilities service team under the guidance of the Facilities Director.
  • Assist with HACCP/OSHA compliance, RMP (refrigeration system) under the guidance of the Facility Program Manager.
  • Provide quality service to end users in needs analysis, solution recommendation, vendor selection, implementation, training and post-installation support with direction from the Facilities Director.
  • Monitor output of solar panels to ensure top production. Maintain solar panels including all repairs, cleanliness of panels and the solar field. Interact with Cal Com and Net Tracker.
  • Respond to alarms at the facilities 24/7 (water, fire, refrigeration, power) when notified by the Facilities Director.
  • Develop best practices, routines, and innovative solutions to improve quality of output from equipment as well as staff.
  • Provide documentation and operating instructions for programs implemented.
  • Create policies and or procedures for facility improvements with guidance from Facilities Director.
  • Train mechanics, vacuum tube operators, and ice house operators in responsibilities and how to safely perform their jobs.
  • Maintain third party reports, documentation, and vendor logs for the purpose of cost accounting, safety, food safety, and traceability.
  • Maintain compliance documentation for all repairs and maintenance operations for the purpose of cost accounting, food safety, and safety.
  • Recommend purchases of improved equipment that would improve efficiency, lower cost, and improve safety.
  • Communicate with outside agencies and assist in their needs.
  • Development of programs and strategy to lower overhead cost.
  • Development of programs and strategy to lower outsourcing cost.
  • Assign equal duties to union staff.
  • Work with staff to best utilize their time and get the most out of their individual skill set.
  • Ensure staff completes work and repairs in a timely fashion.
  • Make sure all staff is staying compliant with company policies.
  • Oversee the purchase of parts and equipment. Make sure no over purchasing is occurring by keeping an inventory of spare parts and equipment.
  • Manage repair schedule of equipment by creating an accurate Preventative Maintenance Program for the facility, with guidance from Facilities Director and Facility Program Manager.
  • Responsible for proper reporting and documentation of hazardous waste with county and state agencies, and communicate with appropriate groups within the company

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Basic knowledge of electrical

  • Experience supervising hourly employees, union experience a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively present facts and recommendations in oral and written form
  • Correct English usage, including spelling, grammar, punctuation and vocabulary
  • Excellent technical writing or documentation skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft desktop products
